Garfield and Lucretia Rudolph Garfield. She married Joseph Stanley-Brown in 1888 and had three children; Rudolph, Ruth, and Margaret. Joseph Stanley-Brown had served as Garfield's private secretary in Washington, and organized the papers and books in the memorial library dedicated to the late president at the family home, Lawnfield, Mentor, Ohio. Stanley-Brown worked for the United States Geologic Survey, the National Geographic Society, in the railroad industry, and as a banker. The Stanley-Brown family lived first in Washington, and then in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island, New York. Rudolph Stanley-Brown was a partner in Abram Garfield's architectural firm in Cleveland, Ohio, and married Katherine Oliver in 1922. Margaret Stanley-Brown was a surgeon.
